About the Company
Lyfe is a global, remote-first ecommerce company creating luxury architectural hardware for residential and commercial spaces. The company combines premium materials, thoughtful design, and dependable execution to help customers create distinctive interiors and architectural environments. Its product range includes curtain rods, door handles, handrails, shelving systems, and other custom-designed hardware. Lyfe serves customers primarily across the United States while operating with a global perspective and distributed team model. The business is focused on building products that balance visual quality, practical performance, and customization. This creates a finance environment where disciplined planning, inventory awareness, margin management, and operational visibility directly influence growth. The Finance Director will help strengthen the financial foundation behind a design-led ecommerce business and ensure leaders have the insight, controls, and accountability required to make sound decisions.
About the Role
The Finance Director will own the financial operating system that supports Lyfe’s growth across ecommerce, product, inventory, and custom architectural hardware. This role is open to candidates across the United States within Lyfe’s remote-first operating model. You will translate business performance into reliable forecasts, clear management reporting, and practical decisions around cash, margin, investment, and operating priorities. You will lead planning and analysis, strengthen controls, and create visibility across revenue, costs, working capital, and profitability. Through disciplined reporting and close partnership with senior leaders, you will improve accountability and ensure financial choices reflect both customer demand and operational reality. The role suits a senior finance leader who can move between strategic planning and hands-on execution in a growing, product-led company.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the annual planning, forecasting, and long-range financial model, linking commercial assumptions, inventory needs, operating costs, and investment choices to measurable growth and profitability outcomes.
- Lead monthly close, management reporting, and variance analysis through reliable financial systems, giving leadership timely insight into performance, risks, and corrective actions.
- Build visibility into product margins, fulfillment economics, custom-order profitability, and channel performance so teams can improve pricing, mix, cost discipline, and customer value.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, inventory planning, and liquidity priorities, ensuring the company can fund growth while reducing avoidable financial exposure.
- Strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, approval processes, and financial governance to improve accuracy, compliance, audit readiness, and decision confidence.
- Partner with ecommerce, operations, product, and commercial leaders to evaluate initiatives, quantify trade-offs, and hold owners accountable for financial and operational results.
- Develop and lead a high-performing finance function, setting clear standards for data quality, business partnership, execution pace, and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills & Technologies
- Senior financial leadership experience across planning, forecasting, reporting, accounting oversight, cash management, and business performance in a growing ecommerce, consumer, product, or multi-channel environment.
- Strong command of financial modeling, scenario planning, margin analysis, working capital, inventory economics, and translating operational drivers into executive decisions.
- Proven ability to design practical controls and reporting systems that improve data accuracy, accountability, audit readiness, and visibility without slowing the business.
- Experience partnering with founders or senior executives, challenging assumptions constructively, and communicating complex financial issues with clarity, judgment, and commercial focus.
- Advanced spreadsheet and financial analysis capability, with confidence working across accounting platforms, reporting tools, ecommerce data, and integrated business systems.
Additional Plus
- Experience with premium consumer products, architectural hardware, manufacturing, wholesale, or custom-order businesses where inventory, sourcing, and product margin require close financial management.
- Background scaling finance processes in a remote-first or distributed company, including documentation, asynchronous communication, and cross-functional operating rhythms.
- Professional accounting qualification or equivalent experience, together with exposure to tax coordination, external audits, banking relationships, or fundraising support.
What You'll Bring
- You bring senior ownership of finance as a business lever, balancing strategic perspective with the willingness to inspect detail, resolve ambiguity, and build the operating discipline a growing company needs.
- You bring commercial judgment and a practical understanding of how pricing, product mix, inventory, fulfillment, customer demand, and operating costs shape sustainable profitability.
- You bring strong communication and influence, enabling leaders and functional owners to understand financial trade-offs, act on performance signals, and take accountability for outcomes.
- You bring systems thinking, high standards for accuracy, and the ability to improve processes progressively while keeping finance useful, responsive, and connected to the customer and business reality.
Why Join Us
Lyfe offers the opportunity to shape the financial engine of a global, remote-first ecommerce company with a distinctive product and strong design orientation. The Finance Director will have meaningful influence across planning, operations, inventory, product economics, and leadership decision-making rather than operating as a reporting function alone. You will work close to the commercial and operational drivers that determine growth, including premium hardware, custom-designed products, customer demand, and fulfillment complexity. The role provides scope to establish stronger systems, improve visibility, and create a finance culture built on ownership and useful insight. Because Lyfe serves residential and commercial customers across the United States while operating globally, the work combines local market relevance with distributed collaboration. This is a chance to help a growing company make better decisions, protect its quality standards, and build scalable financial discipline without losing speed or customer focus.
