About the Role

As Ab Initio Lead, you will own the design, delivery, and technical quality of enterprise data integration solutions. You will lead Ab Initio development across batch and data-processing workflows, establish reusable patterns, and ensure reliable movement of data between source systems, warehouses, and downstream consumers. Strong SQL expertise is central to the role: you will validate data logic, optimize queries, investigate reconciliation issues, and strengthen performance across complex datasets. You will guide engineers through design reviews, coding standards, testing, release readiness, and production support. The role connects technical decisions to business impact by improving data accuracy, processing efficiency, operational stability, and delivery predictability. Success means dependable pipelines, fewer production defects, transparent ownership, and a team that can deliver scalable integration capabilities for enterprise clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end Ab Initio architecture and delivery for enterprise data integration programs, ensuring workflows meet functional, performance, quality, and operational requirements.
• Lead SQL-heavy data analysis, query optimization, reconciliation, and defect resolution so critical datasets remain accurate, performant, and trusted by downstream business users.
• Establish reusable Ab Initio components, development standards, metadata practices, and design patterns that reduce delivery effort while improving maintainability across implementations.
• Review technical designs and code, coach engineers, and set quality gates across testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support to reduce recurring defects.
• Partner with architects, project managers, analysts, and client stakeholders to translate business needs into practical integration solutions with clear scope and measurable outcomes.
• Own incident analysis and continuous improvement for data pipelines, using monitoring, root-cause analysis, and operational metrics to improve stability and recovery time.
• Manage technical dependencies, risks, estimates, and delivery decisions, providing clear status and trade-offs that keep complex programs predictable and aligned.

Essential Skills & Technologies

• Deep Ab Initio experience across Graphical Development Environment, Conduct>It, Control Center, plans, components, metadata, scheduling, deployment, and production support for enterprise-scale data pipelines.
• Strong SQL expertise covering complex joins, analytical logic, stored procedures, data profiling, reconciliation, query tuning, indexing, and performance troubleshooting across large relational datasets.
• Solid data engineering fundamentals including ETL architecture, dimensional modeling, data quality, error handling, lineage, batch processing, Unix scripting, and integration with enterprise databases.

Additional Plus

• Experience leading delivery teams, conducting design reviews, mentoring engineers, and coordinating technical decisions across distributed stakeholders and client-facing programs.
• Exposure to cloud data platforms, modern orchestration, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, or migration from legacy integration environments is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Agile delivery, estimation, documentation, release governance, and regulated or high-volume enterprise data environments will strengthen your effectiveness.

What You'll Bring

• 10–15 years of experience in data engineering, ETL, data integration, or related enterprise technology delivery, including substantial hands-on Ab Initio implementation and leadership responsibility.
• Strong SQL capability demonstrated through complex data transformation, profiling, reconciliation, query optimization, and diagnosis of performance or data-quality issues in production environments.
• Ability to convert ambiguous business requirements into robust technical designs, explain trade-offs to varied audiences, and maintain accountability for outcomes through delivery and operations.
• Experience guiding engineers through architecture, coding, testing, deployment, incident response, and continuous improvement while preserving delivery quality and team development.
• A structured, analytical approach to problem solving, with strong written and verbal communication and the confidence to engage clients, architects, project leaders, and delivery teams.
