Financial Controller – India Finance Head
Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra, India | Experience: Senior Level (15–25 years)

A US-headquartered global outsourcing partner is seeking a senior finance leader for its India operations. The organization helps corporations and law firms address complex business and legal challenges through deep domain expertise, disciplined delivery, and technology-enabled workflows. Its services span Legal & Compliance and Creative & Business Solutions, supported by delivery centers across multiple continents. The company operates across the United States, United Kingdom, India, Japan, and the Philippines, creating a sophisticated, multi-jurisdictional environment for finance leadership. It combines the scale and stability of an established global organization with the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership on high-impact priorities. The business is investing in operational excellence, process standardization, and technology-enabled delivery, making finance a critical lever for governance, performance, and sustainable growth. This confidential search is being managed on behalf of the organization by an executive search partner. Company identity and identifying details will be shared selectively during the process.
About the Role
The Financial Controller will serve as India Finance Head for a global outsourcing partner’s Mumbai operations, reporting directly to the US-based CFO. The role owns end-to-end financial governance, statutory reporting, tax compliance, internal controls, treasury, and finance team leadership for India. Through disciplined reporting, multi-GAAP expertise, and strong partnership with India operations and global finance, this leader will protect financial integrity while improving decision quality, control maturity, cash management, and business performance. The position requires close coordination across the US, UK, India, Japan, and Philippines, with responsibility for translating local requirements into globally aligned finance practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Own India entity financial statements under Ind AS and align reporting with the US parent’s US GAAP requirements, ensuring accurate consolidation inputs, reliable disclosures, and timely executive decision-making.
- Lead month-end and quarter-end close across India operations, improving reporting discipline, accuracy, and turnaround while resolving issues before they affect global finance reporting cycles.
- Direct statutory audits, tax audits, and ROC, GST, TDS, and Income Tax filings, serving as the primary India contact for auditors, regulators, advisors, and the US Finance team.
- Design and strengthen internal controls, including SOX-aligned practices where applicable, to reduce financial risk, improve compliance visibility, and embed consistent governance across India operations.
- Manage direct and indirect tax, transfer pricing documentation, intercompany transactions, cost-plus arrangements, and relevant APA support in coordination with global tax advisors.
- Deliver monthly and quarterly financial packs, variance analysis, budget-versus-actual insights, and forecast updates to the US CFO and global finance leadership for sharper performance management.
- Partner with India business and delivery leaders on pricing, cost structure, margins, cash flow, banking, working capital, funding coordination, ERP improvement, and finance team capability.
Essential Skills & Technologies
- 15–25 years of progressive finance experience, including at least five years in a Controller, India Finance Head, or comparable senior finance leadership role within a complex operating environment.
- Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent, with strong working knowledge of US GAAP and Ind AS; IFRS or UK GAAP exposure is valuable.
- Proven ownership of statutory audits, regulatory filings, direct and indirect tax, transfer pricing, intercompany arrangements, and reporting to a US-based parent or global finance leadership team.
- Hands-on experience with major ERP platforms and finance automation, with the ability to improve reporting accuracy, control effectiveness, process standardization, and close-cycle performance.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build finance teams, mentor technical talent, collaborate with Legal and Operations, and influence senior stakeholders across geographies.
- Multi-jurisdictional experience spanning at least two operating geographies, with the judgment to balance India regulatory requirements and global finance standards.
Additional Plus
- Experience with cost-plus transfer pricing models, GCC or shared-services environments, multi-entity consolidation, and cross-border intercompany funding structures.
- Exposure to SOX-aligned control environments, M&A or deal support, and finance transformation initiatives involving ERP redesign, automation, or operating-model standardization.
- Experience in legal services, legal process outsourcing, business services, technology-enabled outsourcing, or another complex, multi-continent delivery organization.
What You'll Bring
- You bring the judgment to own India’s financial integrity while operating confidently within a global, multi-jurisdictional reporting framework. You can move between detailed statutory requirements, consolidated reporting expectations, and commercial priorities without losing control of the fundamentals.
- You bring strong technical command of Ind AS and US GAAP, with practical exposure to tax, transfer pricing, audits, intercompany arrangements, and control environments. You know how to convert standards into repeatable processes that withstand scrutiny.
- You bring a business-partner mindset, using variance analysis, forecasts, pricing insight, cost visibility, and margin understanding to help India leadership make better operating decisions. Your work connects finance discipline with measurable business outcomes.
- You bring calm, credible leadership to auditors, advisors, the US CFO, global finance colleagues, and India delivery teams. You build capable teams, create succession depth, improve systems, and establish operating rhythms that make performance and accountability visible.
Why Join Us
This is an opportunity to join a high-impact finance leadership team supporting a global, US-headquartered outsourcing partner with delivery operations across the US, UK, India, Japan, and the Philippines. The role combines ownership of India’s complete finance agenda with direct visibility to the US-based CFO and senior global stakeholders. You will influence reporting quality, governance, tax strategy, working capital, process automation, and margin improvement rather than operating as a narrow controllership function. The mandate offers meaningful scope to shape the India finance operating model, strengthen team capability, and create standards that scale across a complex international organization. You will work close to business and delivery leadership, gaining exposure to cross-border finance, technology-enabled operations, and the commercial levers behind a growing professional services platform. For an experienced finance leader, it offers the combination of authority, international exposure, transformation opportunity, and executive access needed to make a durable impact. As this is a confidential search, company details will be disclosed selectively during the recruitment process.
