About the Role

The Chief Commercial Officer, North Asia, will own the region’s commercial strategy, revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion across China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan. Reporting to the Deputy Managing Director, this executive will lead Sales, Key Account Management, Pricing, and Business Development as one integrated growth system. The role will translate global objectives into regional trade-lane, vertical, and service-line priorities, while balancing topline expansion with gross-margin quality and cost-to-serve discipline. Success requires building executive customer relationships, strengthening pipeline conversion, scaling multicultural teams, and enabling consistent commercial governance across markets. The CCO will also partner with Operations, Finance, Product, and Global Trade leaders to turn digitalization, automation, and market intelligence into measurable commercial advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the North Asia commercial strategy, annual plan, budget, forecast, and target architecture, translating global priorities into market-specific revenue and margin outcomes.
  • Deliver topline and gross-margin performance through disciplined pricing governance, yield optimization, cost-to-serve management, and identification of new revenue streams and strategic partnerships.
  • Lead and scale high-performing Sales and Business Development teams across North Asia, using clear KPIs, performance systems, coaching, and accountability to improve pipeline quality and conversion.
  • Build the regional key-account model for strategic customers, strengthening executive relationships, retention, renewals, share of wallet, and long-term customer value.
  • Direct complex negotiations, enterprise contracts, and strategic deals while ensuring commercial decisions improve profitability, customer experience, and competitive positioning.
  • Use market, trade-flow, regulatory, and competitor intelligence to shape service innovation and strengthen positioning across China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan.
  • Align commercial execution with Operations, Finance, Product, Global Trade, and global account strategies, accelerating digitalization and automation of sales processes.
  • Maintain strong governance through ethical commercial practices, structured contract management, credit discipline, risk mitigation, and an accountable, diverse, and collaborative leadership culture.

Essential Skills & Technologies

  • Regional commercial strategy, multi-country P&L ownership, revenue management, gross-margin improvement, pricing governance, yield optimization, budgeting, forecasting, and cost-to-serve analysis.
  • Senior leadership across Sales, Business Development, Key Account Management, Pricing, and enterprise negotiations within freight forwarding, logistics, supply chain, or closely related international markets.
  • Deep understanding of North Asia trade lanes and cross-border commercial dynamics spanning China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan.
  • Data-led pipeline management, KPI design, performance governance, commercial analytics, and the ability to convert market intelligence into scalable growth decisions.
  • Executive stakeholder management, customer retention, contract renewal, strategic partnerships, influencing, negotiation, and relationship development across multicultural environments.
  • Digital sales transformation, process automation, CRM discipline, logistics technology platforms, API or EDI connectivity, and technology-enabled customer experience improvement.
  • Corporate governance, ethical commercial leadership, structured contract management, credit governance, and disciplined risk control across complex regional operations.
