About the Company

The hiring organization is developing a large-scale greenfield chemical plant in Nagpur with an estimated project investment of ₹300 crore. The project will establish new manufacturing infrastructure, utilities, process facilities, storage systems, safety systems, and supporting site assets from the ground up. This is a high-accountability environment where construction quality, schedule certainty, cost control, and safe execution directly determine commissioning readiness and business start-up. The organization is seeking leaders who can translate engineering designs and project plans into disciplined field delivery. The successful candidate will work across engineering, procurement, contractors, consultants, operations, quality, and statutory stakeholders to create an integrated construction program. The role offers the opportunity to shape a major industrial asset during its most execution-intensive phase, establish strong site governance, and build systems that support reliable operations after handover. Performance will be measured through safe progress, technical compliance, controlled changes, timely completion, and a plant that is ready for commissioning.

About the Role

The Resident Construction Manager will own site-wide construction delivery for a ₹300 crore greenfield chemical plant in Nagpur. Through integrated planning, contractor leadership, engineering coordination, quality systems, and safety governance, this role will convert approved designs into a compliant, commissioning-ready facility. The manager will act as the senior construction representative on site, aligning civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, utilities, and infrastructure workstreams. Success means predictable progress against the master schedule, disciplined cost and change control, safe execution, high first-time quality, rapid resolution of field constraints, and an orderly handover to commissioning and operations. The role requires strong presence in the field, commercial awareness, technical judgment, and the ability to lead multiple contractors and stakeholders through complex industrial execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the integrated construction master plan across civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, utilities, and plant infrastructure, converting milestones into measurable field progress.
  • Lead contractor mobilization, work-front planning, resource deployment, and productivity reviews through structured site meetings, dashboards, and recovery plans that protect the approved completion date.
  • Govern construction quality through inspection and test plans, drawing compliance, material controls, punch-list closure, and documentation systems that deliver reliable assets ready for commissioning.
  • Enforce site safety, environmental, and statutory requirements through visible leadership, permit controls, audits, risk assessments, and corrective actions that prevent incidents and construction stoppages.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, consultants, vendors, contractors, operations, and commissioning teams to resolve interfaces, clarify technical issues, and prevent rework or delayed work fronts.
  • Control project cost and scope through quantity tracking, change evaluation, contractor measurement, claims review, and timely escalation of commercial risks to project leadership.
  • Own construction reporting, risk registers, look-ahead schedules, progress certification, and executive updates so decisions are based on accurate site information and emerging constraints.
  • Drive mechanical completion, system turnover, punch closure, as-built documentation, and handover planning so the plant transitions efficiently from construction into commissioning and operations.

Essential Skills & Technologies

  • Proven leadership of large industrial or chemical-plant construction, including multidisciplinary civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and utility packages executed through multiple contractors.
  • Strong command of construction planning, Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling tools, progress measurement, quantity tracking, cost control, contract administration, and change-management systems.
  • Practical understanding of industrial safety, quality assurance, permit-to-work controls, inspection and test plans, commissioning interfaces, statutory compliance, and construction documentation.

Additional Plus

  • Experience delivering greenfield chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, process, or other hazardous manufacturing facilities with demanding utility, process, and safety interfaces.
  • Exposure to EPC or EPCM delivery models, major equipment installation, process piping, pressure systems, shutdown planning, and contractor claims or dispute resolution.
  • Professional certification in project management, construction management, safety, or contract administration, combined with strong stakeholder communication and reporting discipline.

What You'll Bring

  • You will bring 12–18 years of progressive construction leadership experience, including responsibility for complex industrial projects and multidisciplinary site execution. A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline is expected, supported by strong practical knowledge of construction methods, industrial interfaces, quality systems, safety controls, and commissioning handover.
  • You will be comfortable leading large contractor teams, challenging weak productivity, resolving field constraints, and making timely decisions when design, procurement, commercial, and execution priorities compete. Your approach will combine rigorous planning with visible field leadership: you will know what is happening on site, why it matters to the schedule and cost position, and what intervention is required.
  • You will communicate clearly with project leadership, engineering, procurement, vendors, consultants, operations, and statutory authorities. You will also demonstrate commercial judgment, document control discipline, and the ability to build accountability across contractors.
  • Experience in chemical or other process-plant environments, strong safety leadership, and familiarity with commissioning readiness will be highly valuable.
