About the Company
SYSTRA is a global engineering and consultancy company focused on transport infrastructure and sustainable mobility. For more than 100 years, we have helped shape how people and goods move across cities and regions. Our work spans rail, metro, high-speed rail, roads, bridges, stations, airports, ports, urban mobility, and digital solutions. With more than 10,000 employees across over 80 countries and projects touching more than 1,200 cities, our teams combine engineering, advisory, project delivery, and operational expertise to solve complex mobility challenges. In India, our professionals contribute to major transportation and infrastructure programmes, working with public authorities, partners, and delivery teams to create safer, more efficient, and more connected communities. This role joins a collaborative technology environment where reliable software supports business operations, project execution, and decision-making. We value diverse perspectives, responsible engineering, continuous learning, and practical solutions that create measurable value for clients and the communities our work serves.
About the Role
As a .NET Developer, you will own the design, development, enhancement, and support of business applications that enable SYSTRA teams to deliver transport and infrastructure programmes effectively. You will translate functional requirements into maintainable software, connect applications to dependable data services, and ensure releases meet agreed standards for performance, security, and usability. The role combines hands-on coding with structured collaboration across product owners, analysts, testers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders. You will use the Microsoft technology ecosystem and sound software engineering practices to improve existing platforms and deliver new capabilities. Success means dependable applications, fewer recurring defects, transparent delivery progress, and solutions that help teams make faster, better-informed decisions. Working onsite in Bangalore, you will contribute to a professional engineering culture where quality, accountability, and continuous improvement are treated as shared responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end development of .NET applications, from requirement clarification through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support, improving delivery reliability and business usability.
- Build maintainable application components using C#, .NET, APIs, and established design principles, reducing technical debt while enabling future enhancements and integration.
- Translate business and project requirements into clear technical solutions, surfacing dependencies and trade-offs early so stakeholders can make informed scope and priority decisions.
- Design and optimise database interactions, queries, and data flows, improving application responsiveness, data integrity, and the trustworthiness of operational reporting.
- Collaborate with analysts, testers, architects, infrastructure teams, and users through agile or structured delivery practices, ensuring outcomes remain aligned with business needs.
- Diagnose production issues using logs, monitoring, debugging, and root-cause analysis, restoring service quickly and preventing repeat incidents through durable corrective actions.
- Contribute to code reviews, automated testing, documentation, release controls, and security practices, strengthening quality gates across the software development lifecycle.
Essential Skills & Technologies
- Strong hands-on experience with C#, .NET or .NET Core, object-oriented programming, RESTful APIs, and common software design patterns for production application development.
- Practical experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, including schema understanding, query writing, performance troubleshooting, and reliable data access implementation.
- Working knowledge of web technologies, version control, debugging, unit testing, and software development lifecycle practices, with the discipline to deliver readable and supportable code.
- Ability to analyse requirements, communicate technical concepts clearly, collaborate across functions, and take accountable ownership of issues through resolution.
- Experience supporting applications in production, interpreting logs and failures, and applying structured root-cause analysis to improve reliability and user outcomes.
Additional Plus
- Experience with ASP.NET MVC, Web API, Entity Framework, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, or modern front-end integration patterns that support complete business application delivery.
- Familiarity with Azure, CI/CD pipelines, automated build and release processes, containerisation, or cloud-based monitoring and operational practices.
- Exposure to enterprise systems, engineering or infrastructure domains, agile delivery, and secure development practices would help you contribute faster.
What You'll Bring
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, supported by 3–6 years of professional experience delivering .NET-based applications.
- Strong ownership of outcomes rather than isolated tasks, with the judgement to clarify ambiguous requirements, make pragmatic technical choices, and communicate delivery risks early.
- A quality mindset that treats testing, code review, documentation, security, observability, and maintainability as essential parts of engineering—not activities postponed until the end.
- The ability to work productively with business stakeholders and technical peers, listen carefully, explain trade-offs simply, and convert shared understanding into dependable software.
- Curiosity and continuous-learning habits, enabling you to strengthen your Microsoft technology expertise while adapting to evolving project, client, and operational needs.
- Structured problem-solving skills for investigating defects and performance issues, connecting symptoms to root causes, and implementing fixes that prevent recurrence.
- Professional integrity and respect for diverse perspectives, contributing to an inclusive onsite team that values accountability, collaboration, and practical improvement.
Why Join Us
SYSTRA offers the opportunity to connect software engineering with work that shapes how people and goods move through cities and regions. Your applications will support teams delivering infrastructure and mobility programmes with visible public impact.
You will work within a global, multidisciplinary organisation where technology intersects with engineering, consulting, project delivery, and operations. That environment creates opportunities to learn from complex real-world challenges, collaborate across cultures, and see how dependable systems improve decisions and execution.
The role also offers meaningful ownership. You will influence application quality, reliability, and usability rather than simply completing isolated development tickets. Through disciplined engineering, transparent collaboration, and continuous improvement, you can build a career while contributing to safer, more efficient, and more sustainable mobility.
What We Offer
- Meaningful work connected to transport infrastructure, sustainable mobility, and projects that influence communities across cities and regions.
- An international, multidisciplinary working environment that encourages collaboration across engineering, consulting, technology, project delivery, and operations.
- Opportunities to deepen your technical expertise through complex application challenges, continuous learning, and exposure to global practices.
- An inclusive culture that values diverse perspectives, professional accountability, practical innovation, and sustainable long-term impact.
