About the Role

As a Backend Developer, you will own services and APIs that power reliable healthcare technology products. You will translate product and operational needs into maintainable Python systems, improve performance and resilience, and support dependable delivery from design through production. Success means building backend capabilities that are easy to evolve, observable in operation, and aligned with user and business needs. You will work closely with frontend, data, product, and other engineering stakeholders to solve problems end to end. The role suits an engineer who is comfortable taking responsibility for implementation quality, learning domain constraints, and improving systems through evidence from testing and production.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Python backend services and APIs that support dependable product workflows and enable teams to deliver healthcare technology at scale.
• Own service quality through testing, monitoring, logging, and incident follow-through, reducing production risk and improving the reliability experienced by users and internal teams.
• Translate product requirements into clear technical designs, making pragmatic architecture choices that balance delivery speed, maintainability, security, and future system growth.
• Collaborate with frontend, data, product, and domain stakeholders to resolve cross-functional dependencies and deliver complete capabilities rather than isolated technical components.
• Improve application performance, scalability, and operational efficiency by profiling bottlenecks, strengthening data flows, and implementing changes tied to measurable system outcomes.
• Participate in code reviews and engineering standards, raising implementation quality while sharing context that helps the team make consistent, sustainable technical decisions.
• Investigate defects and production issues systematically, identify root causes, and implement preventive improvements that reduce recurrence and protect customer and business continuity.

Essential Skills & Technologies

• Strong Python development experience with sound understanding of backend architecture, API design, object-oriented principles, testing, and maintainable production code.
• Experience building and integrating RESTful services, working with relational or non-relational databases, and applying practical data modeling and query optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with Git-based development, automated testing, debugging, deployment workflows, and production observability; exposure to cloud platforms or containers is valuable.

Additional Plus

• Experience with Django, FastAPI, Flask, or comparable Python backend frameworks, including decisions around service structure, dependency management, and API lifecycle.
• Exposure to healthcare, diagnostics, regulated software, or data-intensive products, with appreciation for reliability, privacy, traceability, and domain-sensitive engineering decisions.
• Experience with asynchronous processing, message queues, caching, CI/CD, Docker, or Kubernetes that can improve throughput, deployment confidence, and operational resilience.
