About the Company

Darwin Platform is a utilities-focused company headquartered in Delhi, India. The organization builds and operates technology intended to support utility businesses and the teams that depend on reliable digital systems. This role joins a company where software quality, operational dependability, and practical business value are central to engineering decisions. Working from the Delhi office, employees collaborate closely with colleagues across product, engineering, and business functions to turn operational needs into usable technology. The company values ownership, clear communication, and disciplined execution. Engineers are expected to understand the outcomes their systems enable, not only the code they write. Because the organization works in the utilities domain, reliability, maintainability, and attention to operational detail are important measures of success. Darwin Platform offers an opportunity to contribute to products and systems that support essential business processes while developing depth across software delivery, engineering practices, and domain-focused problem solving.

About the Role

As a Software Engineer, you will own the delivery of reliable software that supports Darwin Platform’s utilities-focused business. You will translate product and operational needs into maintainable services, integrations, and user-facing capabilities. Through sound engineering practices, testing, observability, and collaboration, you will improve system quality and delivery confidence. Success means shipping useful technology predictably, reducing avoidable operational issues, and leaving systems easier for teammates to understand and extend. This is an onsite role in New Delhi for an engineer who can work independently on defined problems while contributing constructively to team-level technical decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own features from requirements through production release, aligning implementation choices with user needs, delivery commitments, and measurable improvements in business or operational outcomes.
  • Design, build, test, and maintain scalable software components, applying sound architecture and coding practices that improve reliability, readability, and future changeability.
  • Investigate defects and production issues using logs, metrics, traces, and structured debugging, restoring service quickly and preventing recurrence through durable fixes.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, QA, and business stakeholders to clarify trade-offs, manage dependencies, and deliver solutions that address the underlying problem.
  • Strengthen engineering quality through automated testing, code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement of development and release workflows.
  • Monitor system health and delivery impact after launch, using feedback and operational data to prioritize refinements that improve performance, usability, and supportability.

Essential Skills & Technologies

  • Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language and practical experience building production software with clean, maintainable code.
  • Working knowledge of data structures, algorithms, APIs, databases, version control, and software development lifecycle practices.
  • Experience writing automated tests, reviewing code, debugging complex issues, and using observability signals to improve production reliability.
  • Ability to work with web services, integrations, or distributed application components and make thoughtful trade-offs around performance and maintainability.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical decisions to engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience with collaborative delivery practices such as Agile planning, iterative releases, and peer-based engineering reviews.

Additional Plus

  • Experience in utilities, infrastructure, enterprise software, or another operationally critical domain where reliability and continuity materially affect customers.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, containers, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure tooling, or modern monitoring and alerting practices.
  • Exposure to secure coding, performance tuning, system design, or data-intensive applications would help you contribute across a broader technical surface.

What You'll Bring

  • You bring 2–5 years of professional software engineering experience and a track record of delivering production-quality capabilities from a clear problem statement to measurable operational use.
  • You bring a relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, supported by strong fundamentals in programming, software design, testing, and debugging.
  • You bring an ownership mindset: you follow work through release and adoption, communicate risks early, and use evidence from users and systems to improve outcomes.
  • You bring curiosity and sound judgment, asking useful questions before committing to solutions and balancing immediate delivery needs with maintainability and reliability.
  • You bring collaborative habits, including constructive code reviews, concise documentation, respectful technical debate, and dependable coordination with product and business partners.
  • You bring comfort working onsite in New Delhi and contributing in an environment where direct collaboration, accountability, and practical execution are valued.
  • You bring the ability to learn the utilities domain quickly and connect technical decisions to the reliability of essential business processes.
  • You bring a continuous-improvement orientation, looking for ways to simplify systems, strengthen delivery practices, and make the team more effective over time.

Why Join Us

  • Build software for a utilities-focused company where reliability and maintainability connect directly to operational performance and the quality of essential business processes.
  • Work closely with cross-functional colleagues in an onsite environment, gaining broad exposure to product decisions, engineering execution, and domain-focused problem solving.
  • Own meaningful outcomes across the software lifecycle while developing your technical depth through practical delivery, feedback, and continuous improvement.

What We Offer

  • Meaningful ownership of production software, with the opportunity to see your decisions improve reliability, delivery confidence, and day-to-day operational effectiveness.
  • Direct collaboration with engineering, product, and business stakeholders from the New Delhi office, enabling faster feedback, shared context, and visible contribution.
  • A practical environment that values learning, responsible engineering judgment, clear communication, and continuous improvement over unnecessary process or complexity.
