About the Company

Gunjit_testing is a small banking-focused company building practical technology solutions for modern financial services. Based in Navi Mumbai, with an additional presence in Bengaluru, the company brings an early-stage environment where engineers can work closely with business stakeholders and see their contributions move from idea to production. The team values ownership, learning, and dependable execution while operating with the focus and speed of a lean organization. This role offers exposure to software development in a domain where reliability, clarity, and thoughtful problem solving directly influence user and business outcomes. You will join a collaborative engineering team that is helping shape the company’s technology foundation, development practices, and product capabilities. The environment is suited to engineers who want meaningful responsibility, strong mentorship, and the opportunity to build solutions that support banking-related use cases.

About the Role

As a Junior Software Engineer, you will help build, improve, and maintain software that supports the company’s banking-focused products and operations. You will own well-scoped engineering outcomes, from understanding requirements through implementation, testing, documentation, and production support. Working with experienced engineers and cross-functional partners, you will turn product needs into maintainable solutions while learning sound engineering practices. The role combines hands-on development with disciplined collaboration: writing readable code, diagnosing issues, reviewing changes, and contributing to a dependable delivery process. Success means shipping useful improvements, reducing avoidable defects, and steadily growing your ability to solve technical problems in a real business environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own assigned software features from clarified requirements through implementation, testing, release, and post-release follow-up, ensuring each change delivers measurable value to users and business stakeholders.
  • Build readable, maintainable code using the team’s development standards, with clear interfaces and appropriate documentation that reduce future maintenance effort and improve delivery consistency.
  • Use version control, code review, automated testing, and issue-tracking systems to make engineering work visible, auditable, and dependable across the development lifecycle.
  • Investigate defects and production issues, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes that improve application reliability while minimizing disruption to users and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, product partners, and other stakeholders to clarify priorities, surface technical risks early, and deliver solutions within agreed constraints.
  • Contribute to engineering improvements such as reusable components, development documentation, test coverage, and streamlined workflows that help the team scale its execution.
  • Participate in discussions about design, trade-offs, and delivery plans, communicating progress and blockers clearly so decisions remain timely and aligned to business outcomes.

Essential Skills & Technologies

  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language and the ability to apply core software engineering principles to build reliable, maintainable applications.
  • Working knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, debugging, and basic system design, with the judgment to choose practical solutions for well-scoped problems.
  • Experience using Git or a comparable version-control system, along with familiarity with code reviews, issue tracking, testing practices, and collaborative development workflows.
  • Understanding of relational or non-relational databases, APIs, and common application architecture concepts, with an ability to trace data and troubleshoot integration issues.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, curiosity, and a disciplined approach to learning unfamiliar technologies, understanding requirements, and asking effective technical questions.
  • Awareness of secure, reliable software development practices, especially around input validation, error handling, logging, access control, and protecting sensitive banking-related information.

Additional Plus

  • Exposure to cloud platforms, containers, CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, or automated deployment workflows that support repeatable and reliable software delivery.
  • Experience with web services, frontend or backend frameworks, automated testing tools, or agile product development through internships, academic projects, or prior professional work.
  • Familiarity with financial services, banking workflows, compliance-sensitive systems, or software where data accuracy and operational reliability are especially important.

What You'll Bring

  • A strong foundation in software engineering fundamentals and the ability to convert clear requirements into tested, maintainable code while accepting feedback and improving through each delivery cycle.
  • A practical ownership mindset: you follow work through to a usable outcome, communicate risks early, and take responsibility for understanding how your changes affect customers, teammates, and operations.
  • Curiosity and learning agility, with the confidence to explore unfamiliar systems, read documentation, seek guidance, and build enough context to make sound technical decisions.
  • Reliable collaboration habits, including clear communication, thoughtful participation in reviews, respect for different viewpoints, and a consistent focus on team outcomes over individual activity.
  • Care for quality and detail, especially when handling data, diagnosing defects, writing tests, documenting decisions, and delivering software that others can safely extend.
  • The resilience to work in a growing company where priorities can evolve, requirements may need clarification, and engineers are expected to balance speed with dependable execution.

Why Join Us

You will join a small, focused team where your work can have visible impact and your learning can happen close to the people shaping the product. Rather than contributing to an isolated slice of a large organization, you will understand how engineering decisions connect to banking-focused business needs, user experience, operational reliability, and company growth. The role gives you a structured path to strengthen fundamentals while working on real software, supported by experienced teammates who value clear thinking, constructive feedback, and steady improvement. You will have opportunities to contribute beyond writing code by improving tests, documentation, workflows, and the quality of technical decisions. Because the company is building its technology foundation, your ideas can influence how the team collaborates and delivers. The hybrid setup supports focused individual work as well as purposeful collaboration. For an early-career engineer, this is an opportunity to build a strong professional foundation, develop practical product judgment, and see the business value of what you ship. Compensation is competitive, and the environment rewards ownership, curiosity, and dependable results.

What We Offer

  • Meaningful ownership of software improvements in a banking-focused environment, with clear visibility into how engineering work supports users, operations, and business growth.
  • Close collaboration and practical mentorship from experienced teammates, helping you strengthen technical fundamentals, delivery judgment, communication, and professional engineering habits.
  • A hybrid working environment in Navi Mumbai with opportunities to collaborate across the company’s engineering and business teams.
  • Competitive compensation and the opportunity to grow with a lean organization that values learning, initiative, and measurable contribution.
