About the Role

This role is for a junior backend developer who will help build and maintain reliable backend systems that support product delivery and internal operations. The work centers on writing clean, maintainable code, supporting APIs and services, and ensuring the systems behind the product stay stable as usage grows. You will work closely with engineers and other stakeholders to translate product needs into practical technical solutions. The role is best suited to someone who is early in their career but eager to take ownership, learn quickly, and contribute to measurable product outcomes. Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services that support core product workflows, with a focus on reliability, maintainability, and clear ownership of the code you ship.
• Develop and improve APIs and integrations so product features can move efficiently from idea to release without creating unnecessary operational risk.
• Work with engineering and product stakeholders to convert business needs into technical solutions that are simple, scalable, and easy to support.
• Write clean, testable code and participate in code reviews to improve quality, reduce bugs, and keep the engineering stack dependable as usage grows.
• Investigate and resolve backend issues quickly so product interruptions are minimized and customers experience stable, predictable service.
• Support database-related tasks, including basic schema changes, query optimization, and data handling needed for day-to-day product operations.
• Document technical decisions and implementation details clearly so the team can onboard faster, maintain consistency, and reduce avoidable dependency gaps.

Essential Skills & Technologies

• Strong foundation in backend development concepts, including APIs, server-side logic, databases, and application architecture, with the ability to apply these fundamentals in real product work.
• Working knowledge of one backend language or framework such as Node.js, Python, Java, or similar, with enough fluency to deliver features and maintain existing services.
• Understanding of SQL and relational databases, including writing basic queries, handling data safely, and supporting the performance needs of common backend workflows.
• Familiarity with version control tools such as Git, plus a disciplined approach to collaboration, code review, and changes that can be traced and maintained.
• Ability to debug issues methodically, identify root causes, and work through problems with a calm, structured approach that reduces rework and downtime.
• Basic awareness of testing practices, API design, and software engineering principles that help create stable systems and reduce future maintenance burden.
