About the Company

James Darwin is a Mumbai-based media and entertainment company building a creator-led platform for audiences and communities. The company operates across short-form video, podcasts, live events, original series, and creator partnerships, with a focus on culture, storytelling, and community participation. Its work connects creators and audiences through formats designed for discovery, conversation, and repeat engagement. The organization is scaling its content engine and needs stronger strategic systems to turn audience insight into distinctive, consistent programming. The team values ownership, evidence-based decisions, and fast learning across creative and commercial priorities. This role will contribute to a business where content quality, audience relevance, and creator relationships directly influence platform growth. Candidates will work closely with editorial, creative, production, partnerships, and audience teams to shape an integrated content direction. The opportunity suits someone who can move between cultural understanding, structured planning, editorial judgment, and measurable outcomes while helping a growing media business build durable content advantages.

About the Role

The Content Strategist will own the content strategy that connects audience insight, cultural relevance, creator opportunity, and business priorities. Through research, editorial frameworks, programming plans, and performance reviews, this role will guide what the company makes, for whom, and why. The strategist will turn signals from audience behavior, platform performance, creator relationships, and cultural trends into clear recommendations for editorial and production teams. Success means stronger content choices, more consistent programming, improved audience engagement, and a repeatable operating system for scaling original formats and partnerships. This role requires both strategic judgment and execution discipline: developing the point of view, aligning stakeholders, supporting production decisions, and learning from outcomes. The ideal candidate can communicate simply, challenge assumptions constructively, and balance creative ambition with evidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the content strategy and editorial priorities across video, podcasts, live events, original series, and creator partnerships, improving audience relevance and portfolio coherence.
  • Translate audience research, cultural trends, creator insights, and performance data into programming recommendations that guide investment, development, distribution, and content refresh decisions.
  • Build repeatable content planning systems, including calendars, briefs, audience definitions, format principles, and success measures, enabling teams to execute with greater consistency and speed.
  • Partner with creative, editorial, production, partnerships, and audience teams to align strategy with workflows, remove decision ambiguity, and improve the quality and timeliness of shipped work.
  • Establish measurement frameworks and review rhythms that connect content choices to reach, retention, engagement, community participation, and other business outcomes.
  • Develop and test new content concepts, formats, and creator opportunities, using structured experimentation to identify scalable ideas and reduce execution risk.
  • Present clear strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders, making trade-offs visible and securing alignment around priorities, resources, and expected impact.

Essential Skills & Technologies

  • Strong content strategy, editorial planning, audience development, and cultural insight skills, with the ability to turn qualitative signals and quantitative data into decisive recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing content concepts, briefs, formats, or programming across digital media, creator platforms, entertainment, publishing, or adjacent environments.
  • Comfortable using analytics and collaboration tools to track performance, organize planning, communicate decisions, and improve content systems; familiarity with platform metrics is essential.

Additional Plus

  • Experience working across short-form video, podcasts, live events, original series, or creator partnerships, with an understanding of how format and distribution shape audience behavior.
  • Familiarity with social listening, audience research, experimentation, or content intelligence tools that support cultural monitoring and evidence-based programming.
  • Experience in a fast-growing media, entertainment, technology, or community-led company where priorities evolve quickly and cross-functional influence matters.

What You'll Bring

  • You bring 3–5 years of experience in content strategy, editorial planning, audience development, programming, or a related field. You can define a clear content point of view while remaining grounded in audience evidence, platform behavior, and commercial context.
  • You are comfortable moving from research and insight to a concise brief, an executable plan, and a useful post-launch review. You understand that strong strategy is not a presentation; it is a system that improves decisions and outcomes across teams.
  • You communicate with clarity, write well, and make complex ideas practical for creative and operational partners. You bring sound editorial judgment, curiosity about culture, and respect for the craft of creators and producers.
  • You are organized enough to manage multiple priorities without losing the strategic thread, and collaborative enough to build alignment without relying on authority. You are willing to test assumptions, learn from underperformance, and refine the operating model.
  • Most importantly, you take ownership of the relationship between content quality, audience value, and business impact.
