About the Role
The Cybersecurity Officer will own day-to-day security safeguards that protect company systems, data, and user access. The role is responsible for turning security requirements into reliable controls, monitoring, and response routines that reduce risk without slowing business operations. Success in this role means building practical security discipline across the organization, identifying weak points early, and ensuring incidents are handled quickly and cleanly. The position suits someone who can balance technical vigilance with calm decision-making and strong cross-functional coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Own monitoring and incident response routines that detect threats early, contain issues quickly, and reduce operational disruption. Ensure findings are translated into clear corrective actions that strengthen the security posture.
- Maintain access control, authentication, and permission governance so only the right people have the right level of system access. Tight controls should reduce exposure while supporting day-to-day productivity.
- Review security logs, alerts, and vulnerability signals to identify patterns that require action. Turn recurring risk into prioritized remediation work that protects business-critical systems and data.
- Coordinate security awareness and policy adherence across teams so employees understand how to protect information and systems. Strong adoption should lower preventable incidents and improve accountability.
- Support audits, assessments, and compliance checks by preparing evidence, closing gaps, and documenting control effectiveness. The outcome is a more defensible security environment with fewer surprises.
- Partner with IT, operations, and leadership to improve security controls during system changes, new tool rollouts, and business process updates. Security must stay embedded in execution, not treated as a separate function.
- Track risks, incidents, and remediation progress in a structured way so leadership can see exposure clearly. Good reporting should make decisions faster and more grounded.
- Continuously improve security processes, playbooks, and escalation paths so the function becomes more predictable and scalable over time. Stronger operating rhythms should reduce repeat issues.
Essential Skills & Technologies
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, including endpoint security, access control, monitoring, incident handling, and vulnerability management. The candidate should know how to apply these controls in practical business environments.
- Working knowledge of security tools, log review practices, and alert triage workflows. The role needs someone who can separate noise from genuine risk and act with urgency when needed.
- Experience supporting security compliance, audits, or evidence collection for internal and external reviews. The candidate should be able to document controls clearly and close gaps systematically.
- Ability to collaborate across IT and business teams to implement security improvements without creating unnecessary friction. Success depends on influence, clarity, and follow-through.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain security risks, actions, and priorities in simple language. The officer must help others understand what matters and why.
- Sound judgment under pressure, with a disciplined approach to prioritization and incident escalation. The role requires calm execution when situations are time-sensitive.
- Familiarity with security policies, awareness programs, and basic governance practices. The candidate should be able to reinforce expected behavior and improve adherence over time.
Additional Plus
- Prior exposure to workforce solutions, staffing, or multi-industry service environments would help the candidate adapt quickly to varied security expectations.
- Experience supporting inclusive workplace practices or accessibility-minded operations would be a meaningful advantage.
- Hands-on familiarity with cloud security, EDR, SIEM, or identity platforms would strengthen the candidate’s impact in this role.
What You'll Bring
- You bring disciplined ownership of security outcomes and can turn risk into practical controls that people actually use. Your work makes the environment safer without creating unnecessary complexity.
- You communicate clearly across technical and non-technical teams, making security expectations understandable and actionable. That helps the organization respond faster and avoid repeat mistakes.
- You stay calm during incidents, organize the response, and follow through on remediation until issues are closed. Leadership can rely on you to create order when risk is high.
- You balance vigilance with collaboration, knowing that strong security depends on adoption as much as policy. Your influence helps embed secure habits into everyday work.
