About the Role
The Compensation Specialist will own accurate, timely, and consistent compensation processes for the organization’s Gurgaon-based team. The role will maintain salary data, support benchmarking, prepare compensation analyses, and enable informed decisions across hiring, promotions, increments, and internal movement. Success means leaders have reliable insights, employees experience consistent processes, and compensation decisions remain aligned with business needs and market realities. Through disciplined data management, reporting, and cross-functional partnership, this role will strengthen the organization’s ability to attract, retain, and reward talent. The specialist will work closely with HR, finance, and business stakeholders while protecting confidentiality and ensuring every compensation action is documented, controlled, and delivered on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Own recurring compensation cycles, including salary reviews, promotion changes, and adjustments, using structured calendars and approval workflows to deliver accurate outcomes on time.
- Maintain employee compensation records, job data, and supporting documentation in HR systems, improving data integrity and reducing errors that affect payroll, reporting, or employee trust.
- Conduct market benchmarking and internal pay analysis using reliable data sources, helping HR and business leaders make competitive, equitable, and financially responsible compensation decisions.
- Prepare clear compensation reports, dashboards, and scenario analyses for HR and leadership, translating data into practical recommendations that support workforce planning and retention.
- Partner with HR, finance, recruiters, and managers on offers and compensation changes, applying approved guidelines consistently while balancing market conditions, internal equity, and business priorities.
- Protect sensitive compensation information through controlled access, accurate documentation, and disciplined communication, strengthening compliance and maintaining employee and stakeholder confidence.
- Identify process gaps and improve compensation tools, templates, and controls, increasing efficiency and creating a dependable employee experience across the compensation lifecycle.
Essential Skills & Technologies
- Strong compensation analysis skills, including salary benchmarking, internal equity reviews, pay-range administration, and offer evaluation, with the judgment to turn data into clear business recommendations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, data validation, and scenario modeling, supported by comfort working with HRIS and compensation data.
- Practical understanding of compensation structures, job evaluation, salary review cycles, variable pay concepts, and relevant employment practices, with careful attention to accuracy and confidentiality.
- Strong reporting and data interpretation skills, enabling concise dashboards and explanations that help HR and business leaders understand workforce cost, pay positioning, and decision trade-offs.
- Clear stakeholder communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain sensitive compensation matters professionally to HR partners, managers, finance teams, and employees.
- High ownership, organization, and attention to detail, demonstrated through dependable follow-through, audit-ready records, deadline management, and consistent application of approved compensation policies.
Additional Plus
- Experience supporting compensation programs in a growing, multi-location, or service-led organization where priorities shift and accurate decisions must be made quickly.
- Exposure to HR analytics, job architecture, pay equity reviews, incentive planning, or compensation survey participation would strengthen the role’s ability to support broader rewards initiatives.
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools or HR technology integrations would help improve reporting automation, data visibility, and the efficiency of recurring compensation processes.
What You'll Bring
- Bring 4–7 years of hands-on experience in compensation, rewards, HR analytics, payroll-related analysis, or a closely related people function, with evidence of owning recurring processes independently.
- Bring strong analytical discipline and advanced Excel skills, enabling you to validate large datasets, identify trends, build practical models, and present accurate findings without losing important details.
- Bring a structured approach to confidential work, ensuring compensation records, approvals, reports, and communications remain accurate, controlled, and appropriately handled throughout each cycle.
- Bring commercial judgment and stakeholder confidence, balancing market data, internal equity, employee experience, and budget realities when advising HR and business leaders.
- Bring clear written and verbal communication, making complex compensation information easy to understand for audiences with different levels of technical or HR expertise.
- Bring curiosity and continuous-improvement thinking, looking beyond completion of tasks to strengthen systems, remove recurring errors, and create compensation processes that scale with organizational needs.
