About the Company

ZEISS is a globally recognized technology company advancing precision optics, microscopy, medical technology, industrial metrology, and semiconductor manufacturing. Its products and solutions enable customers to measure, visualize, manufacture, and make decisions with greater accuracy. Teams combine deep scientific expertise, engineering discipline, and long-term customer partnership to solve demanding technical problems. In Gurgaon, this role contributes to an international environment where software, data, and digital workflows support products used across critical industries. The company values curiosity, rigorous thinking, collaboration, and responsible innovation. Quality is central to protecting customer trust, product performance, and the reliability of solutions delivered across global markets. You will work with colleagues across engineering, product, and business functions while helping establish scalable practices that make quality measurable and repeatable.

About the Role

Own the quality of assigned software products and releases by translating requirements into effective test strategies, validating behavior across risk areas, and turning evidence into release decisions. Through structured manual and automated testing, defect analysis, and close partnership with engineering and product teams, you will prevent recurring issues and improve customer outcomes. The role requires analytical judgment, disciplined documentation, and the ability to communicate quality risks clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will help strengthen test coverage, improve feedback loops, and ensure that delivery teams understand whether products are ready for use. Success means fewer escaped defects, faster diagnosis, more predictable releases, and greater confidence in product reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own test planning for assigned features and releases, converting requirements, workflows, and risk signals into traceable coverage that protects customer-critical functionality and improves release confidence.
  • Execute functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and usability testing across relevant environments, producing reliable evidence that supports clear go or no-go decisions.
  • Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects through the delivery lifecycle, partnering with developers to establish root causes and prevent repeated failures.
  • Build and maintain automated test coverage where appropriate, improving feedback speed and reducing manual effort across stable, repeatable validation scenarios.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, designers, and support teams to clarify acceptance criteria and resolve quality risks before they affect customers.
  • Monitor quality metrics, escaped defects, test effectiveness, and recurring failure patterns, using insights to recommend process changes with measurable reliability impact.
  • Contribute to quality standards, test documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives that make delivery practices more consistent across teams.

Essential Skills & Technologies

  • Strong experience with software testing fundamentals, including test case design, defect lifecycle management, risk-based testing, regression testing, and release validation.
  • Working knowledge of API, database, integration, and web application testing, with familiarity using tools such as Jira, TestRail, Postman, SQL, or equivalent platforms.
  • Practical automation experience with a framework or language such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Java, Python, or JavaScript, plus confident analytical and communication skills.

Additional Plus

  • Experience testing products in regulated, scientific, medical, industrial, or other high-reliability environments where traceability and evidence influence release decisions.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control, cloud environments, observability tools, and test execution within Agile or Scrum delivery teams.
  • Exposure to performance, security, accessibility, mobile, or data-quality testing, with the judgment to select techniques based on product risk and customer impact.

What You'll Bring

You bring a structured, curious approach to understanding how products should work and how they might fail in real customer environments. You can move comfortably between requirements, test design, execution evidence, defect analysis, and release conversations without losing sight of business impact. You are confident challenging unclear acceptance criteria, escalating material risks, and explaining technical findings in language that helps teams act. You combine strong testing fundamentals with practical judgment: knowing when to automate, when exploratory testing is more valuable, and when evidence is sufficient for a release decision. You take ownership of outcomes rather than treating testing as a checklist, and you look for patterns that improve the system, not only the immediate defect. You collaborate respectfully with engineering, product, design, and support colleagues, while maintaining independence in your quality assessment. You are comfortable learning complex domains, working across teams and time zones, and documenting decisions clearly. Above all, you care about building reliable products that earn customer trust through consistent performance.
