Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)

Location: Syracuse, New York, United States | Experience: Mid Level (3-7 years)

About the Company

We are a healthcare organization committed to safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care across the patient journey. Our teams work in a collaborative clinical environment where advanced practice professionals are trusted to make sound decisions, communicate clearly, and contribute to reliable outcomes.

The organization supports a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and respect for patients, families, and colleagues. Clinical practice is guided by hospital policies, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and established patient-safety principles.

This team values consistent preparation, precise documentation, effective interdisciplinary collaboration, and responsiveness in both routine and emergency situations. Employees are encouraged to participate in quality improvement, departmental initiatives, continuing education, mandatory training, and activities that strengthen clinical competency.

The role offers a structured weekday schedule and a comprehensive benefits program designed to support professional growth, financial planning, personal wellbeing, and time away from work.

About the Role

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist owns safe, individualized anesthesia care from pre-anesthetic assessment through post-anesthesia recovery. This role evaluates patient history, laboratory data, and diagnostic studies; develops appropriate care plans; administers anesthesia and sedation; manages airways; monitors physiological changes; and responds decisively to complications or emergencies. The CRNA partners with the clinical team to support effective procedures, pain control, recovery, accurate documentation, and reliable patient outcomes. Success is measured through safe anesthesia delivery, timely recognition of risk, high-quality records, regulatory compliance, patient-centered communication, and sustained contribution to departmental quality and safety goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own comprehensive pre-anesthetic assessments by reviewing medical histories, laboratory data, and diagnostic studies, translating findings into individualized plans that reduce procedural risk and support safe patient outcomes.
  • Administer general, regional, monitored anesthesia care, and sedation using appropriate techniques, medications, and equipment while maintaining continuous clinical judgment and control of the anesthesia process.
  • Monitor patients throughout anesthesia administration, identify meaningful changes in condition, and intervene promptly through appropriate adjustments, escalation, and communication with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Manage patient airways using clinically appropriate techniques and equipment, maintaining readiness for difficult airway situations, advanced airway intervention, resuscitation, and emergency stabilization.
  • Own accurate anesthesia records and clinical documentation, ensuring information supports continuity of care, legal and regulatory requirements, quality review, and reliable post-procedure decision-making.
  • Conduct post-anesthesia evaluations and management, including pain control and recovery assessment, so patients transition safely and care teams receive timely, actionable clinical information.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, patient safety, departmental meetings, continuing education, mandatory training, and initiatives that improve anesthesia reliability, clinical competency, and operational outcomes.

Essential Skills & Technologies

  • Advanced competence in pre-anesthetic evaluation, general and regional anesthesia, monitored anesthesia care, sedation, airway management, post-anesthesia recovery, pain control, and emergency resuscitation.
  • Strong clinical judgment, patient monitoring, documentation, interdisciplinary communication, and ability to respond calmly and effectively to changing patient conditions.
  • Current clinical knowledge supported by a valid New York RN license, CRNA board certification, BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, and ACLS certification.

Additional Plus

  • Experience delivering anesthesia across varied patient presentations and procedural needs while adapting care plans to medical history, diagnostic findings, and changing intraoperative conditions.
  • Demonstrated participation in patient-safety programs, quality-improvement work, departmental initiatives, continuing education, or clinical practice standardization.
  • Familiarity with hospital accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, anesthesia documentation expectations, and systems that support reliable clinical handoffs and outcomes.

What You'll Bring

You bring the clinical discipline and judgment required to own anesthesia care across assessment, planning, administration, monitoring, airway management, recovery, and documentation. You are prepared to evaluate complex patient information, identify risks before they become complications, and implement an individualized plan that supports safe and effective care.

You communicate clearly with patients, families, anesthesiology colleagues, surgeons, nurses, and other clinical partners. You remain composed when patient conditions change and can use advanced airway-management and resuscitation skills when urgent intervention is required.

You hold a bachelor's degree in nursing, an active New York Registered Nurse license, and graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia program. Board certification as a CRNA is required, along with current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross and ACLS certification.

You also bring ownership of accurate records, professional accountability, commitment to regulatory compliance, and willingness to contribute to quality improvement, patient safety, departmental meetings, continuing education, mandatory training, and ongoing clinical competency.
